Mountain View Retreat is an easy 4 hour drive from Melbourne and 3 hours from Canberra.
Travelling from Melbourne:
By Car:
Take the Hume Highway to the Great Alpine Road turn off, near Wangaratta. Then travel through Myrtleford, Bright to Harrietville. Bright is your last chance for fuel, so please do not forget to fill up before heading onto Harrietville. Once in Harrietville, head over the second bridge (School Bridge) and you will find Mountain View Retreat located on the right hand side just next door to Hoy’s A frame Ski Hire.
By Bus or Train:
Mountain View Retreat can provide private coach services for guests of 20 or more people (fees apply). For further information on this service, contact Mountain View Retreat direct.
V/Line operate a daily service from Melbourne to Wangaratta with coach transfers from Wangaratta to Bright. Alps Link offers a bus service from Bright to Harrietville. Mountain View can also arrange shuttle services from Bright to Harrietville. V/Line also operate a service from Bendigo to Bright via Wangaratta (all year)

During the winter, Coaches depart daily from Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station Coach Terminal and Tullamarine Airport and travel via Myrtleford, Bright & Harrietville. The scheduled bus service stops next door to Mountain View Holiday Retreat for all guests before travelling to Mt Hotham. (This is a winter only coach service)
Travelling from Sydney:
Take the Hume Highway to Albury-Wodonga and follow the snow signs to Yackandandah then turn off to Myrtleford. At Myrtleford turn on the Great Alpine Road to Bright then on to Harrietville. Mountain View Holiday Retreat is located on the right hand side just over the second bridge and next door to Hoy’s A frame ski hire. Bright is your last chance for fuel, so please do not forget to fill up before heading onto Harrietville.
Travelling from Adelaide or Perth:
